One of the nice, new features of Windows Vista is its ability to adjust your network settings to optimize your connection speed without any input on your part. Generally speaking, this feature has done a great job of improving the speed of network connections for many Vista users. There is one group of users, however, that might not be getting the best performance from the automatic network settings.
When a wireless WAN card is being used, the detection of network conditions can be flawed which can lead Vista to choose the incorrect network settings and can result in slower network performance. Thankfully, Microsoft is aware of this issue and has released a hotfix for those affected. If you are using Vista with a Wireless networking card, give this hotfix a try and it could result in better network performance for your machine.
